Textbook: None Required.

A copy of Mike Markel's Technical Communication textbook will be placed on reserve at the library. You should consult this, a similar technical writing text, or one of the recommended Internet Writing Resources to resolve issues of grammar and style. I strongly suggest that you browse through the Internet Writing Resources at the beginning of the semester so that you will be familiar with these resources before you start writing your detailed outline and final paper.

Course Description:

Each student will choose a Computer Science topic that has not been covered in detail in any FLC courses. The topic must be approved by the instructor.  The student will conduct a seminar on that topic and write a tutorial research paper on the topic. Implementation projects are discouraged, but may serve as an appropriate topic at the discretion of the instructor.

Course Objectives:

·         To improve oral and written communications skills.

·         To provide students with an exposure to advanced Computer Science topics not typically covered in the FLC curriculum.

·         To provide students with 'teaching' experience.

Prerequisite: Senior Standing.
