Detailed Outline & Final Written Tutorial

Section Numbering Format

·        You are to use a format similar to the one shown below for numbering the sections / subsections for both the detailed outline and final written tutorial.

·        Note that, in my example below, the major section titles are in bold and subsection titles are in italics. You should pick a similar scheme from the heading styles of your word processor or define your own styles for section / subsection titles as long as you are consistent with respect to formatting.

·        Note also that each Subsection Title is flush with the left margin and that the numbering scheme is hierarchical. These two features are required in whatever styles you choose.

·        When creating subsections, you must have a minimum of two subsections, for example, when I chose to have a subsection 2.2.1 of Section 2.2, I must have at least one other subsection of Section 2.2

·        The subsection titles which I chose for the Background Section are used only as an example and are not required in your paper.

A few paragraphs introducing your topic to the reader.

2. Background.

A paragraph or two describing what you are going to cover in the background section.

2.1 Historical Prespective.

Insert the text for this section.

2.2 Relevant Research.

Insert the text for this section.

2.2.1 Scholarly Research.

2.2.2 Industrial Research.

Insert the text for this section.

3. Sections Specific Your Paper.

The main text of your paper.
