Software Development: Course Syllabus – Winter 2012

so get your copy before then.
Prerequisites: The prerequisites for this course are CSIS 230, or CSIS 206, the Advanced Programming Courses in Java, or Visual Basic. Please check with the instructor if have not taken one of these courses in order to see if you qualify for a prerequisite override to enroll in the course.
Course Objectives: Familiarize the student with open source software development by learning to use common open source software development tools and by participating in an open source project.
Course Description: The source code for open source software is readily available so that it can be studied and/or modified. This is a project-based course on software development using open source software. Students will join an Open Source project and contribute to the project.

Management System: We will be using Moodle, a course management
system, in this class. Our use of Moodle may
sometimes make students' names and FLC network IDs visible within the course
website. We are using secure, password-protected, access to the course so your
identifying information will be visible only to other students registered
in the Moodle class. If you have concerns
