R. Lee Frazer, Ph.D.

Lee Frazer is an Assistant Professor of Adventure Education in the Department of Exercise Science at Fort Lewis College.  

Before coming to Fort Lewis College, Dr. Frazer was director of Montana Programs and a long-time course director and instructor with Outward Bound, a social and environmental studies teacher in two Texas school districts, and a co-coordinator of service learning and leadership development programs at a university in the Midwest.  

Broadly speaking, his scholarship explores the the intersection between social justice education, critical pedagogy, and outdoor teacher education.  Dr. Frazer’s work also looks at participatory staff development, the philosophy of teaching, the impact of outdoor education on moral development, and the infatuation with adventure in popular culture. 

In the past five years, Dr. Frazer has presented at a variety of conferences and symposia, including the Symposium for Experiential Education Research, the Coalition for Education in the Outdoors Research Symposium, the Association for Experiential Education International Conference, the Outward Bound National Trainers Training, and the Association for Outdoor Recreation and Education National Conference.
