The Science Open House is an annual celebration of science and technology held on the Fort Lewis College campus in Durango, Colorado. The event is free and open to the public featuring live shows, interactive walk-through demonstrations, and lab tours presented by Fort Lewis professors and students. The purpose of the event is to inspire the public with an interest in the sciences, as well as showcase the awesome work of the Fort Lewis faculty and students. Most people don't know, for instance, that the Fort Lewis Chemistry Department is one of the top undergraduate chemistry programs in the country. Our department was ranked #9 in the country for undergraduate chemistry programs by schools.com based on our high faculty to student ratio, excellent facilities and equipment.
