forensic anthropology

Dr. Mulhern is a practicing forensic anthropologist and provides consulting for local law enforcement and coroner's offices in La Plata and surrounding counties on forensic cases and acts as a proxy for the Colorado Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation in cases involving skeletal remains from historic and prehistoric contexts. She is a member of DMORT (Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team), a federal response team and was deployed to Pennsylvania and New York City after 9/11.

Dr. Mulhern is the coordinator for the Forensic Studies Minor at Fort Lewis College and teaches courses in forensic anthropology.  Her introductory students participate in a simulated forensic recovery and laboratory case studies. Her advanced students gain practice with osteological techniques used by forensic anthropologists have assisted with forensic recoveries and casework.
