Labs

There is no lab lab during the first week of class.

Lab grading:

  • The activities below total 12 activities and therefore 12 recorded grades. Each is worth 10 points, for a total of 120 points for the lab course. This portion of your grade will be computed out of 100 points, so the other 20 will count toward some extra credit (but probably not 20 points worth). However, there is no way to make up missed labs, regardless of the reason for your absence.
  • Your 10 points for each lab are scored subjectively, based on your instructor's opinion of your work, both lab work and any written or verbal answers. In most cases, basic attendance and participation will get you all 10 points.
  • Lab quizzes will occur the day after lab, in lecture, using PRS transmitters. They will involve one or two questions to test your involvement with the lab.
  • Your lab grade, all together, will blend into your lecture course grade as approximately 25% of that total grade. (This is somewhat complicated, as lab quizzes are lumped together with other reading quizzes, but the overall result will be about 25% connected with lab.)
  • With 12 activities out of a 14 week term, you will get 2 weeks off. The first one is the first week of classes; I'll let you know when the other will be.
