Tuesday & Thursday Week 13
Announcements:
News item for the day: Tuesday - Kenna Collins (longer presentation); Thursday - Drew Macalady
Debate next week Tuesday; need to choose topic today. Possibilities:
SPECIFIC: e.g., "Alaska's choice: Salmon or Gold - Should the Pebble Mine, which will provide jobs & an infusion of money into the local economy be built? Or should it not, because it might ruin salmon runs and the local fishing industry/culture?"
Other ideas are welcome, but I need to get them SOON!
OTHER IDEAS FOR A SPECIFIC TOPIC (thanks to A.N. for these suggestions!):
Is the reintroduction of Canada lynx to the San Juan Mountains a valid/viable option/project? LOTS of good pro/con discussions here!! I can refine the question a bit more to make it more clearly debatable.
Along the lines of the Pebble Mine question above - Should the proposed uranium mill in the Paradox Valley, (Montrose County SW Colo.) be built? Local residents are in favor because of jobs it will bring to the area, but there are numerous potential & likely impacts on local biodiversity & ecosystem health.
