Here are a few photos from in and around Santa Barbara, California -- my new base camp. It's a pleasant tourist town along the Pacific coast about 90 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Set among a jumble of faults, marine terraces, coastal cliffs, and growing mountain ranges, it is an exciting place to be a geologist. It has a mild, dry climate year-round, unlimited outdoor recreation, and fantastic farmer's markets. Come visit!
